FURNITURE MAKING.

Broard spectrum courses catering for all levels working from set projects

designed to introduce you to the use of hand tools such as chisels, wood planes,

and saws. Sharpening and general care of hand tools. Introduction to hard woods,

and exploring wood joints through basic design techniques.

Introductions to abrasives,adhesives and various finishing techniques

including shellac and waxes.

For the more advanced and for those who wish to progress to more complex projects

we welcome personal designs which require more complicated applications

such as jig building and working curves.  We also welcome design students who might

wish to progress prototypes and 3rd level programme assignments.

INSTRUMENT MAKING: MANDOLIN, GUITAR AND VIOLIN MAKING.

Making music feeds into an international language which transcends borders and politics.

Instrument making challenges and heightens the skills of the woodsman, the sawmiller,

the maker and the musician, uniting peoples from all cultures.

This course provides for the setting up and initial construction of a Mandolin or Ukulele,

 the Violin, Viola, Cello or Double Bass, The choice is yours.

The course also caters for those who have already commenced making a stringed instrument

and wish to seek assistence to develop their projects further.

Mandolin making is a 5 to 6 day course on the second Saturday of each month.

Guitar making is a 6 to 8 day course also on the second Saturday of each month.

Please note that such time scales vary from person to person depending on their

skill level and or ability to work between classes.

Violin is ongoing on the second Saturday of each month.

Starting Feb 6th each week until June.
